Adventures!
Hi Gang,
This week's blog topic is to describe your craziest or best adventure. One of my favorite adventure movies has always been The Blues Brothers. For this blog though, you're not going to be writing about the adventures of Jake and Elwood, but about your own. Some of their adventures were foolish, some illegal, but mostly, they were just good, clean fun. Those boys were, after all, on a mission from God.
At the request of the idea generator, this one will be a three paragraph essay. It can be longer if you want to share a lot of the details with us. The more detailed and interesting it is, of course, the better your grade will be. Please have fun with this; adventures are just that.. adventures and they should always be fun. Please keep in mind that if you're talking about things that violate school rules, athletic codes, local, state or federal laws, you should probably edit them out and don't implicate your friends either. You can write about your adventures, just don't get yourselves in trouble.
This is due by 3 PM on Friday, May 3rd. Please be careful with spelling, grammar and capitalization. I am grading more carefully as we're ever closer to the end of your junior year. When you respond to a peer, you have to BE SPECIFIC. I have read so many, "...good job and good luck with ...." without ever having a clue about what you're referring to. You have to use evidence from your peer's blog in your response. See me if you have a question. I will model a 100% response on the first blog that is written. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteI have went on many crazy, wild, awesome adventures in my lifetime. There are many I`m proud of and many I`m not proud of. Well hey you live and you learn right?
ReplyDeleteMost of my adventures that I`ve been on are things an average normal person would`nt do. One of my adventures I remember is about four wheelings with a few friends of mine. So the day started off as a normal day. I invited a few friends over to go four wheeling. Well the day just crazier only because we were driving like maniacs. Well our time was up. I ended up rolling my four wheeler and my friend riding with me some how managed to end up in the wheel well which he was small enough to fit in. My other friend riding behind us slammed on his breaks and almost rear ended us. He gets off the four wheeler and runs over to me and helps me lift mine off my friend. He was ok.
Everyone goes on some type of adventure whether its big, small, crazy, safe, or just plain old fun. In the end always be safe and smart and make the right choices. If you don't make the right choice just try and be careful or have some back up like a friend there to help just incase something goes wrong.

wow nick that sounds like a crazy time im glad that your friend ended up ok good job on the blog -darien
DeleteNice to know your friend ended up okay Nik. That sounds like a fun time besides the wrecking the four wheeler part and good job on the blog nik.

Hey Nik,
I'm so glad your friend was okay after the four wheeling accident. That seems to be one of those situations where it would have been really scary at the time and now it's just awesome and gives you a great story to tell. I bet you are all laughing about it still! Good work this week.

My cousin Emmet and I have had many adventures together. we grew up together he is like a brother to me when I make plans to go do something normally he’s included. Even when he is not invited he still includes himself. Me and Emmet love to ride our four wheelers together. One day we were riding at our grandmothers and got sick of riding in the same little area we kept ridding. So we decided since no one was home to tell us other wise that we would go explore some new territory.
ReplyDeleteMe and Emmet hit the road with our four wheelers and went strait to the railroad tracks ware we thought we would be safe. We start heading up the tracks and we hit this trail that when from the tracks to an old hunting cabin, we decided to take the trail because we were curious and young At the time we were only 14 and 16. We got to the end of the trail and on the front porch of the cabin was an old man who did not look happy to see us because we were trespassing. so instead of taking off we drove up to him and shut off our four wheelers like we knew him. I asked him how the hunting was and he started to tell me all about it we talked for at least an hour. The old man said that any time we ever want to come back around not to be shy. Cole Griswold

DeleteHey cole,
DeleteI'm kinda jealous that you have a close relative that you can call a brother. Only because I have two sisters which are'nt anything close to having a brother. Anyways yours and Emmets fourwheeling ride sounds like something I would do. At least the old man did'nt start freaking out on you and telling you to get off his property which was good. You should go back there and see if he is still alive.
-Nik Spencer
Hey cole
DeleteI know how you feel. I got a cushion closer than any of my brothers. Where you talking bout the tracks up in the summet because I think I know where you are talking about. I never knew that there was a cabin up at the end of a trail around there let alone there being trail at the tracks down there. Anyway man have have a good one
Jon Lee
Hey Cole i have had a lot of crazy riding times and I ride on other people's property all the time I live in PA and there are no cops out there so basically you can do whatever you want. We will have to go riding sometime.
DeleteShawn Merrill
Hey Cole,
DeleteI remember when I use to live up in the summit, it was actually right down the road from your grandparents. I would always go for walks down them tracks. The summit is a good place to be when your upset or stressed. Good job.

In, my life I have had a lot of adventures. Most of these were with my friends, at my friend’s house. My friends and I love to have stupid crazy fun. We are the Craziest girls I have ever met in my whole life.
ReplyDeleteOne adventure I have had with them is at Emily’s house with my best friend Kristy and her cousin Heidi over the summer. We had this huge bomb fire in the back of her house and we sang crazy songs, like the “Camp-fire-song” by SpongeBob to Big Time Rush. We love Big time Rush and we don’t care what anybody else thinks or says.
Anyway we were just hang-out there by the fire, while playing stupid tag games. We would pick on each other about boys (mostly on me about Tanner) and just looking up at the stars. Then we went on Emily’s porch and had chips, smores, Mountain Dew, (which is like alcohol to me) and skittles. Get the soda and skittles in me and you swear I was drunk off my butt.
So has we were on the porch we were planning on making a video because Emily had a cat toy that was has big as my head so I put it on. Her dad owed a Viking hat and sword so Kristy put that on and she was pretending to slay me. I really had to pee because I had too much soda so I ran inside and went pee.
It was time for dinner and we all sat at the table and had pizza. We were gossiping of course and we laughed so hard I peed myself. They all laughed at me and they still laugh about it today, I don’t think I can ever live this thing down. My friends and I know how to have good clean fun. We can have a blast without having to break any laws. I have had my one friend since preschool and we haven’t broken any laws yet and we still can have the time of our lives.

DeleteI have been on many adventures in my life some of which being illegal and not so safe and others just being safe, harmless fun with my friends. Most of the adventures I have been on have consisted of hikes in the woods. Sometimes they just start out as a fishing/hunting trip and turn into a ridiculous hike through the wilderness observing nature and the things around us.
DeleteThe best adventure I was ever on was with a bunch of my good friends. David McKee and I decided to go to a bonfire up in the woods and things just all of a sudden went bad. We were just hanging out around the fire and one of our friends’s got a call on his phone saying that the cops were after us. We hurried up and took off out of there. As we were running it was pitch black and we were running up the mountain. Once we reached the peak of the mountain we thought we saw flashlights behind us so we took off on a dead run down the mountain the same way we were headed. Once we reached the bottom of the mountain we hit a road and one of our friends said that he knew a spot where we could go hangout and have a fire. We then walked to the road and followed this road back up the mountain and went off in a small hidden field and lit a small fire. All of a sudden we saw headlights and heard car doors shut so we all took off running. We ran back to the base of the mountain and started running up the other mountain. We got about half way up the mountain and decided that it would be safe to take a seat on this little flat and hangout for a few. Once again we saw headlights and the car whipped into the turn around that was just below us but across the creek. We waited and they turned the spot light on to scan the side of the mountain. We all lay down so they could not spot us. Once the car left, David and I ran up that mountain until we hit a road. We then called his mom and she picked us up. The next thing we knew we were safe and sound back at his house hanging out by the bonfire in the driveway.
I have been on some good adventures in my life. The best adventures are the ones where you can look back on and remember as clear as dad and laugh because you know you had fun. Sometimes we do the dumbest things for no reason but once again when we look back all you can do is giggle because you know it was fun and all worth it.
~Brandon Jones~
Katrina,
DeleteIt sounds like you had a great day. I have done fun things that that also. Some things that I eat can be like alcohol to me too. I can get really hyper and crazy. Some people would probably think I am on drugs or something! Great job on the weeks blog and keep up the great work!

ReplyDeleteI have a lot of crazy and fun adventures stories. Of course you have the most fun when you are with the people who make you laugh the most and have a fun time with. This adventure is a little more recent then the other adventures.
ReplyDeleteIt was the middle of the week and a couple of us wanted to go to Binghamton for something to do and go to Wal-Mart to see if they had the new season of a tv show. We left pretty late because I had practice. We took the back way because the highway can get pretty boring. We had the music up and having a good time. When we finally got to Binghamton, we took downtown to go to Vestal. On our way to Wal-Mart, we realize that something was wrong. We pulled into a mechanical shop a crossed from Denny’s on the vestal parkway. When we got out of the car, we noticed that we had popped a tire. It was around nine o’clock and nothing was opened, besides Wal-Mart. We had no way to get to Wal-Mart except for walking, but it was way too far away. While we were sitting there thinking of what we were going to do, a NYSEG truck pulled into the sandwich shop next door. One of use went over and asked if he had anything we could try to change the tire with. He was kind enough to give us what we could possibly use. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get all the bolts loosen to get the tire off. He said when his shift is over he can try to help us a little more. Our solution then was to walk about 45 minutes to Wal-Mart. It was just getting later and later and we were pretty much stranded in Binghamton. Walking on the side of the Vestal Parkway seemed like it took days to get to where we had to go. We stopped at McDonalds to get drinks. McDonalds was a little more of the half way mark. To make out adventure a little more, adventurous, we walked over the old car dealership building. It probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do, but we have been walking for forever and wanted something more to do. We finally get to Wal-Mart and get what we need. On our way back we climb back over the building and this truck comes at us. We all were unsure what was going on. Turns out it was the NYSEG guy. His shift had ended and he drove us back to the jeep. That saved us about another 45 minute walk back. When we got back, we fixed the tire, thanked the guy and went home. Wal-Mart didn’t even have the season we were looking for.
Having crazy adventures or any kind of adventure is the life to live. You have the memories to reminisce on and talk about later on. Having fun while you can is worth it, who wants to be stuck at home and do absolutely nothing g. That is boring, live a little.
-Haley Linkroum
Haley, I enjoyed reading your blog this week. I think its kind of funny that you guys broke down. I realized half way through reading it that you have told me this story before. It gave me a good laugh both times. It seems like it was quite the adventure, good job this week.

I have had many adventures in my life so far. Some have been amazing and some have been not so good. I try to life my life to the fullest and do as much as I can. The best adventure so far is probably when I went to Costa Rica.
ReplyDeleteLast summer I took a trip to Costa Rica with kids from both Deposit and Hancock schools through EF tours. It was an amazing experience. I met a lot of new people and made new friends. The food there was amazing and I ate a lot of it. During the days we would often do tours of places and visit things such as big waterfalls and the rain forest. The nights were fun as well. Everyone was hanging out all night with each other. The hotel rooms were huge so it made it more fun. My group always got the biggest room which was nice.
Costa Rica was one of the best experiences I have had yet. If I could do it again I would do it in a heartbeat. It was an amazing opportunity. I am sure I will have more adventures that are going to be awesome. I hope that they will be better than Costa Rica, that trip will be hard to beat though.
-Jason Lobdell
Jason good job on this week’s blog. I also agree with your statement on your introduction, about you living life to the fullest. I agree I think you certainly do. The trip to Costa Rica sounds like it was a beautiful place. Also sounds like it was a lot of fun I wish I went now.
Delete~Matt Mills
Jason, I thought that Costa Rica was fun too. It was one of the best memories that I have had so far in my life. We had a lot of fun in Costa Rica. I wish we all could go back in a few years to relive what happened on that trip.

ReplyDeleteI have had a lot of adventures in my life. Some of them were good and some of them bad. My most eventful adventure was probably last summer when I went to France.
ReplyDeleteLast summer I went to France with a few other people in our school. Marissa, Kayleigh, Mrs. Wehrli, and I all went. We went for a little over a week and adventures began as soon as we got in the car to head for the airport. There was bad weather so Mrs. Wehrli had trouble getting to New York City where we were meeting and we had trouble finding it. On top of that, our flight was delayed for like five hours. It was crazy! Once we were on our way everything went well though. I had nothing but fun when I went there and got to see so much. I saw the Eiffel tower, visited the Louvre, made some new friends, and tons more.
I would love to go on another adventure similar to this again. It was so much fun and I could defiantly go for some more crepes and croissants. Hopefully I will get to go again sometime in my life.
~Tiffany Scott
this sounds like a great time! i'm super jealous that i wasn't able to go!
DeleteTiffany,
DeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful time in France. Looks like you didn't have a big group that went but I'm sure that was more convenient for you. It sucks that you had so many problems before you finally could get on the plane but at least it was all worth it. Glad you had a fun time!

I have a number of crazy adventures, most of which are not school appropriate, unfortunately. Though there was an adventure this one time that I went to a book signing in Manhattan.
ReplyDeleteI go to the city quite often but one time I bent to Brooklyn with three of my close friends at that time. We were supposed to leave early the next morning to make it there by about ten, but wound up leaving the night before. I told my mom that I was staying at a friends and waking up early the next day to go. Needless to say it was eleven at night and I was on my way to Brooklyn (haha). So we made it to the city by like two a.m. everyone walked around for a little bit until two of my friends decided they were tired. They went back to the car and slept and my other friend and I continued to walk. Before we knew it, it was five o’clock in the morning and we were still sitting by the Hudson, looking acrossed into Manhattan. We decided to go back to the car to get a little sleep, we got to the car and folded down the seats in the back and slept in the trunk, pretty much. We woke up at about ten in the morning, got dressed and jumped on the subway to go into Manhattan. We got into the city and walked and walked and walked. We got to the book signing almost two hours early and stood in line for quite sometime. Blah blah blah. There’s a lot more to this story but it’s not all appropriate. (lol)

I have been on many crazy adventures some are with my friends some are just by myself.
ReplyDeleteThis is where it all begins I was riding my quad and I took it down in to my woods to get it warmed up so as I'm put putting around I stomp on it and go up my yard on to the road where I meat up with my friend Joey. He lives in New Jersey and only comes down every so often so when he does we go riding. So as I met him up by the road we stopped talked for awhile. Then we got on our quads and there we go we took off I led the group because I only know these trails so where all going easily as of all of a sudden I take off then they do it to and where going like 65 on a back dirt round. I mean we were going nuts doing donuts popping wheelies man it is just the best way to spend a nice day out.
So that's just about it I love to ride especially when I have friends with me it's always nice to have a crazy adventure every now and then.
My most fond memory is of last summer when I went to Costa Rica on the school trip with Mrs. Braun, and many other teachers. It was an action pack trip. If you were not sleeping or hangout with some of the people who went you had to listen to Mario- the tour guide. Mario was a very odd jigger but he was really funny. We did a lot of traveling across Costa Rica but one of the days that I will never forget is the day we went zip lining it was so much fun but it was a little scary. We were so high up that the cows in the pasture under us looked like black and white ants. I thought that we were going to die at one time because Marcus and I could not stop for anything we were like a freight train that fell off the tracks. We were flying. There were many different zip lines they had some that you went fast then some that they spun you on and other felt like you could not stop for anything. For the zip line we were matched up with some that was smaller than you so Marcus tried to go with me but they said that we were too big to go together. We were mad but we both said its cool I went with Katie Tiffany and they said that they will tell us when we had to start braking and they gave her the signal and I started to brake but nothing was slowing us down so I decided to brake with two hands that did not work so they also said that you could pull up sot slow you down. We what do you know… that did not work and I said Katie we are going to die and the guy threw up a brake and stopped us. I thought that we were goners. I would have to say this was my only good memory at the time and I loved every minute of that trip. I was kind of happy to see my family but I did not want to leave this amazing country. I wish I could go back right now. If you guys ever want to go anywhere fun trust me go to Costa Rica it’s a blast.
ReplyDelete--Dan Babcock
Dan I hope you liked going to Costa Rica with all of those people. I hope you want to go back and do it again if they do it again for a class trip.

I have had many adventures in my life. Some are good adventures and some are bad adventures.
ReplyDeleteOne of my best adventures was when I went to a party in the summer of 2012. It wasn’t in Deposit, so it was a nice time to get out of town. Many of my friends where there. We rode a 4-wheeler type of thing (I don’t know what it is called) in the wood and a gravel pit. It was a great time. We were going really fast and it was nice to feel the summer breeze in my hair. After we did that for a while, we came back to the house and had a bonfire. We roasted marshmallows and had an awesome time. My friends and I did a lot more things that night, but these are just two things we did that night!
This was one of many great adventures that I have had in my life so far. I hope to have many more parties like these this summer, since it will be my last summer in high school. I hope this summer will be one to remember.

All throughout my life I have had some very memorable experiences. I have experienced many adventures with my family and friends, which makes it all the more memorable. However there is one adventure that I will never be able to forget.
ReplyDeleteI was eight years old and my family and I were getting prepared for a vacation to the Caymen Islands (an island right below Cuba). This was my second vacation out of the United States, so I was pretty stoked. My entire family was not all going to be present though. My brother lived in Maryland and could not take time off of work for this trip. So that left my parents, my sister, and I. We went to the Caymen for a week. Everyday we did something knew, touring the island in new ways. By the third day we were all nice, crisp, and red. My dad ended up getting sun poisening and had to stay in the room the next day. Overall though, I was having the time of my life. My favorite part of the entire trip was the day my sister and I spent at the beach without my parents. We did all sorts of things: went to breakfast, did some shopping, and played on the beach. She let me bury her in sand and we made sand castles.
This wasn’t the most exciting adventure I’ve had in my life but, it reminds me of how things used to be when I was young. My only worry was not being able to play outside as long as I wanted to. Growing up involves a lot of responsibility. Being a kid your living life young, wild, and free. This memorable adventure reminds me of that.
-Bridget Smith
Bridget, I enjoyed reading your blog. Those islands sound awesome. It sounds like you all had a lot of fun. That is besides the sun burn. You did a great job overall.
Delete-Jason Lobdell
ReplyDeleteI have had many pretty interesting adventures; however my favorite one would have to be when I went to Costa Rica. I left for Costa Rica on July 25th with many of my classmates and other students in the school. It was an EF tours trip and I am so glad I went. It was nine days long and I know that doesn’t sound like a lot of stuff but the amount of crazy stuff and activities we saw and did in just those nine days is amazing.
When we arrived in Costa Rica we met our tour director, his name was Mario. He was a really cool tour guide and everybody loved him. We visited many different locations in Costa Rica and it was so interesting to see the different cultures. A lot of the hotels that we stayed at were different than here. The food over there was not very enjoyable for me. By the 5th day I was sick from the food and ready to go home. The best adventure we went on was zip lining. It was so much fun and they had the best lines and they were so high. It was amazing to see the views from that height and looking down on everything.
Another cool activity was when we went to the beach. It wasn’t as we expected though, the water wasn’t clear and we didn’t have the best weather because we went down during the water season. It would randomly just down pour and of course one of the days we went to the beach it down poured and everything got soaked. There were a lot of little crabs and the waves were so strong they could take off your bathing suit if you were in the wrong place. They could even knock you over at times. However the whole Costa Rica trip was quite the adventure I think these were the most fun and interesting.
-Kaitlyn Wingerter
Kaitlyn, sounds like Costa Rica was a blast. Sorry the food wasn't good, I know how much food means to you. Wish I would have gone!
Delete-Haley Linkroum
Kaitlyn,
DeleteCosta Rica seems like it was a good time. I'm glad you had fun and didn't get too sunburned... I know how much you hate the burn on your butt! It sounds like you've made a lot of memories with your friends that you may cherish forever. I have been zip lining before and it is a ton of fun. It sucks that the food was not very enjoyable, I love food and we all know you do as well. Well I'm glad your adventure was a good time.
-Bridget Smith
Throughout my life I have had many adventures. A lot of the adventures were fun and exciting, and others were not and ended badly. I try to live life on the edge and create as many good memories with friends as possible. My best adventure so far was two summers ago.
ReplyDeleteMy brother and I decided to go for a run. So we ran down the road about a mile and a half. We were running with our iPod's so we couldn't hear much, but I saw out of the corner of my eye a big black blob. I slowed down and turned to look and it was a big momma black bear. Both Nate and I froze and didn’t know what to do. Then we look past her and she has her baby cubs with her. The momma bear felt we were a threat to her cubs so she charged after us. We ran about 50 yards before we turned around to see if she was still chasing us. Although she wasn't we didn't stop running.
That was one of the scariest yet most exciting adventures I have been on. I have seen a lot of bears close but not that close, and they have never charged before. Most of the time they are more scared of you than you are of them, except for this time.
~Matt Mills
Hey Matt I enjoyed reading your blog I found the bear story funny even though I know it prolly wasn't all that funny going through it all. I also agree with the saying livening you life on edge I believe that's a good way to live enjoying every moment that come by good job Matt keep it up- Marcus shaver
DeleteMatt, your story sounds like a pretty exciting even though it was probably the scariest thing ever at the time. And I am going to guess that when you said you liked to live life on the edge that you didn’t have that in mind. Anyways glad you got away and I like your story and I hope there is more to come.
Delete- Dan Koch
Matt,
DeleteI enjoyed reading your story very much. It reminded me of a time where my mom almost hit a black bear with her jeep. I'm glad to hear you made it out ok and didn't get eaten. I hope you never have to be in that situation again because it sounded pretty scary. Good job this week, keep up the outstanding work.

I haven’t really been known as the “adventurous” type, therefore I really don’t have a very exciting life or have done very many adventurous things in my life. The best I can come up with are probably some vacations I’ve went on, and I never really did anything adventurous on them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite vacation I’ve went on was to Phoenix, AZ when I was 15 years old. It was my first vacation I’ve gone on alone, I rode the plane all by myself for the first time. That part was probably the scariest. I’m kind of shy and I get lost easily, so I was scared that it was going to be awful. Thankfully, I got where I needed to be and I didn’t have to associate with many people during this process. I arrived in Phoenix around 2/3 in the morning. Everyone thinks that the heat is the big this to get used to, but the biggest thing I had to get used to while I was out there was the time change. You might not think that 3 hours of difference is a big deal, but it definitely is. My sleeping patterns changed entirely and trying to get a hold of people at home was extremely difficult. The heat wasn’t that big of a deal for me, I love the hot weather, and thankfully the heat out there wasn’t humid like it is here, so it’s not as bad as everyone thinks. During my stay in Arizona, I went to the Grand Canyon, stayed with my aunt and uncle, got to visit colleges and just had a blast. On the night of my sweet 16, my aunt took me out to California to a huge mall, and we shopped all day long! I must say, that was the best birthday of my life.
Even though it was only two weeks of staying out there, I’ve learned that Arizona is where I want to live in the near future, and hopefully I will. Then maybe my adventurous side will come out a little more.

I have had some crazy adventures in my life time. My all time favorite adventure happened when I was out in the woods hunting. Some crazy things happen when you're hunting.
ReplyDeleteA couple friends and I had gone rabbit hunting the dog chased down one rabbit and they shot at it. We went and got the rabbit as the dog was chasing something down we thought it was another rabbit. Two of us went on the upper part of the bank and two went to the lower bank all we heard was the dog barker from the lower field and a shot gone off on the upper field. We began to panic as we heard Garret yell I shot a cat it was a big one. We went to the upper hill and seen through the prickers he has shot a bobcat. The thing was as big as a dog and about 45 pounds, that's big for a bobcat. It had been chasing us and following the dog around, it was broad day light and they never come out during the day. After 6 shots to the head it finally died, we went and got a tag for it and got it mounted.
This was the best hunting experience ever. It goes to show no matter how careful you are things can just come out at you and you'll have no idea. Safety is always the key to life.

I have been on many adventures before. There isn't one that I regret but my favorite one would be my trip to the Dominican Republic.
ReplyDeleteI went to the Dominican Republic when I was about 15 so that was a few years ago. I did some unforgettable things such as swim with dolphins which was one of the greatest experiences ever. The main reason my family and I decided to take a trip there is because it was my uncles wedding. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and I had such a great time. It was the first wedding I went to on a beach and it gave me the idea to possibly one day have my wedding on a beach. While in Dominican Republic I my many new people from all over the world and I had the chance to learn a lot about the culture they have in the Dominican Republic.
If I ever had the chance to go back to the Dominican Republic I would without a second guess. It's absolutely beautiful and you get to learn so much from doing so little. The adventures and memories you come home with are unforgettable and absolutely amazing.

Natalia, Very good job with the blog this week! The Dominican republic sounds like an awesome place to go to. I have always said that if i am ever to get married it will either be on the beach or in a field in the middle of no where. It must have been really cool to absorb their culture and try something new. Once again very good job this week.

Natalia,
DeleteI'm glad that you had such a good time in the Dominican Republic. I am so jealous that you got to swim with dolphins. I have always wanted to do that. I have also always wanted to go to a wedding on the beach. I have seen a couple but never been to one. You did a really good job on your blog this week!
