Destiny Due 10/12/12

Hi Everyone!  For this week's blog, I'd like you to read the cartoon below and think about your destiny.  Is your future planned in advance by the stars, your parents, or do you make your own destiny.  Many different belief systems teach differing ideas of destiny; are you guided by that?  Please write at least 200 words about  how you interpret the idea of destiny and how it applies to your life.  This is due no later than 3 PM on  Friday, October 12th.

Good luck!
Ms. Mott

  1. Destiny is something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing. Everyone has there own destiny and I believe everyone controls there own destiny not the people around you. Destiny is a part of life it happens to everyone, some may be great and some may be bad.

I believe you control the outcome of your future or destiny. That is why you want to surround yourself with good people and good influences. The people who surround you may influence your destiny but the do not control it or have the final outcome. That is yourself you choose to surround yourself with good or bad people or influences.

What I interpret from the cartoon is that people may think there mother or father even people can control your destiny but in the long run its all you. Not the stars not anyone yourself and the decisions you choose to make throughout your lifetime. Destiny in my life will hopefully be good because I will make the right decisions in life and choose to be surrounded by good friends and family that will influence me in a good way.

Destiny is a big thing and everyone want to find out there own. The only way to find out is to do the right things and make your own destiny. That is what I took from this cartoon and how it applies to my life.

  2. There are many beliefs and people that say how destiny can be reached. Not everyone’s are the same. I personally believe that one makes their own destiny. I have no belief that the stars make my destiny. That makes no sense to me.

I am the one who controls my density. It is all determined by my own actions. If I don’t want to do something then that’s not my destiny. There are other influences like parents and friends. They can help or harm you into doing something that will affect you. For example, if your parents push you to strive in school and push you in the right direction, then chances are that you will have a more successful life than if you were on your own. An example of a bad influence is if your friends push you to do drugs. This could result in a poorer life.

Many people can affect your destiny and maybe even alter it, but in the end it is all up to you. You are responsible for yourself and how you live your life. There is no way that the stars control my destiny. They are just far away burning balls of fire. I control my own destiny and I am my own man

  3. I believe that everyone is entitled to their own destiny. Your destiny is what you make it, I believe anyways. I don’t think the stars or anything else controls your destiny except yourself. I think that it is all up to you on what you want to do with your future and it is all made up of decisions you make. I don’t believe the stars create your destiny because I just think that’s silly and you are your own person and you get to choose how you want to live your life.

Although your parents do have a say in what you do until you become and adult, I still think its up to you to become the person you want, and although your parents may direct you in the right direction its all up to you once you become an adult.

What I think about the cartoon above is that its just like any other kids having a conversation, because you think you can do whatever you want which is somewhat true, but your parents will hopefully steer you in the right direction so when you grow old enough to be on your own you know how to deal with big decisions and make the right choices.

  4. I believe that you are in charge of your own destiny. Nobody else can control it. You control your own destiny by your actions. For example, if someone drops out of high school, they will mostly likely not get a very good job since they don’t have a lot of education. How successful you become and how successful your destiny is is all determined on you as an individual.

Many people look to astrologers who study the stars as to what their destiny will be. I don’t see how people can tell from stars what your life will turn out to be, but if that’s what they think, then so be it. Also, some people go to fortune tellers to see what their destiny will be. I think that it is a hoax though- they will say something just to make you believe it and then they get paid for it. A person’s parents may also have an influence on what someone destiny is, like if they encourage them to go to college and become successful in life.

In order to have a successful destiny, you need to surround yourself with good influences that will encourage you to do good things. You need to push yourself in life. There are many other things that would make your destiny better also.

The cartoon is saying that you don’t need to look to the stars or to your parents to see what your destiny will be. You control your own destiny. I will control my own destiny by doing well in school, making good choices in life, and surrounding myself with good influences. We should all apply this cartoon’s meaning in our lives. This will help make our destiny and will make our lives more enjoyable.

  6. I personally don’t have a belief system that guides me, my parents have directed me, ultimately we make our own decisions which decides our destiny. We can chose to do well in life or we can chose to do poorly. At the end of the day we decide our fate, or destiny.

Many people say that we do not decide what happens to us, weather we are rich or poor, healthy or sick, alive or dead. I personally believe that we decide all of this ourselves for the most part. If we chose to do good in school we will more than likely benefit from that and live comfortably with a nice job. If we are sick it is generally resulting from a mistake that we made weather that is not cooking something properly, dressing properly, or maintaining homeostasis properly. But whatever that’s my opinion. I guess what I am trying to get out of this is that people as a whole decide what happens.

  7. Destiny is the hidden power believed to control what will happen in the future. Everyone believes something different about destiny and how it works. Some people believe that the stars control it, your parents control it, or you control your own destiny.

In my own opinion I think that you create your own destiny. I don’t believe that the stars are capable of creating a destiny for anyone. Some might say that your parents create your destiny while you are young. This could be a truth up to an extent. They do have a say in what you do but they don’t have complete control over everything you do. You are your own person and make your own decisions. This is how I believe you create your own destiny.

“Every action in this world will bear a consequence” – Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. When I hear this song lyric it makes me think about destiny. No matter what you do you will always have a consequence to that action whether it is good or bad. You will have to deal with whatever choices you make in life forever. You don’t get a redo or second chance. Every small action you make will affect the rest of your life which in turn is your destiny.

  8. Dictionary.com says that destiny is something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune. No one controls your destiny other than your self. People have who believe in there self 100% can accomplish almost any thing possible every one has some thing they are good at and if they put enuf time and hard work into it you can achieve it. When mike Tyson was 15 years old and won the Jr Olympics he knew it was his destiny to be the youngest world champion in boxing history. Mike trained the next four years of his life every day and at age 19 he met his goal of being the youngest heavy weight world champion in history. Oooohhhh Ya and when Cole Griswold wanted to get beast in the game call of duty. When Cole first started playing the game he was just average but after playing the game every day for about 5 hours a day every day of the week he became a beast . Cole wants to be the best in the world soon he believes it is his destiny he’s got the time and the will so maybe.

  9. Destiny is something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing. People think that you’re destiny is chosen by parents, some believe other things. I strongly believe that nobody controls you’re destiny other than you.

You choose your own destiny just by the people you associate with. If you want a good one, you want to be with people that are good or a good influence. Nobody but you can control you’re destiny, other people may try but in reality its all up to you.

From looking at the picture I can interpret I a lot. One thing is as I said before everybody thinks that another person can control you’re destiny. This can go as you’re mother, father, brothers, sisters, and even you’re friends. As I said before nobody controls you’re destiny but yourself.

I believe if you want to have a good destiny then you have to make the right choices in life. You want to associate with people that will always be there supporting you no matter what it is.

  10. The definition of destiny is a predetermined course of events often held to be an irresistible power or agency. I do belief that our destiny is someone with us from birth. You are born with certain characteristics and lead you through life. Sometimes those characteristics are lost temporarily and sometimes they are just lost forever. I think that if you stick to being yourself all the time you will end up following your exact destiny. Every decision you make in your life will affect you one way or another. Sometimes these changes are for the better and sometimes they are fir the worse. Once you do something it may be hard or even impossible to change ever again. So I think it’s up to you to work hard to be the best person you can be everyday of you life. If you do this I think you are assuring yourself a good life. So in the cartoon, I think they are both right. Your destiny is somewhat followed with you from birth and somewhat affect by yourself and the people you are around.

  11. I believe Hobbs is correct in saying we can do whatever we want with our lives. I do not believe that our destiny will always be planned from the beginning, because I don't believe that all the catastrophes in this world were ever planned. Events like that should never happen if everything was planned out from the beginning. If everything was planned out from the beginning then everything should go smoothly for everyone, but from the actions of others and being that not everyone can understand the person next to them our destinies are in out own hands.

I remember that when i was a kid that I would always try to set myself apart from everyone around me so that I could possibly see what was happening in life. I have memory of when my mom left me when I was five years old just two months into my kindergarten year. I do not believe that was predetermined, no one should ever have to go through having an import person in their life stripped away like they were never there. To me a lot of stuff in this world wouldn't be the same if destiny was predetermined, how everyone picks at each other to break someone down so they feel useless or how we can lie to each others faces and most will feel nothing in the process..... I believe this was all caused by our own actions and our each and individual path we all have taken, nothing so sadistic or masochistic should ever be planned in a world if everything was predetermined.... Having this all predetermined makes it seem like this is just all a game to someone else who is controlling us for their own enjoyment.

Sadly I understand what you're saying. I agree, destiny is not predetermined, for anyone. I don't beleive in destiny, I beleive in fate. As for the catastrophes, they happen, perhapse they're planned, perhapes not. No one will ever know. But i like what you wrote, it was very well planned.

  12. The meaning of destiny is usually inevitable or irresistible. We all have our destinies of who we want to become. Many people feel as if others have control over their lives, such as your parent guardian. With destiny that’s not really how it goes, you’re your own person and you make your own decisions, and even though sometimes they may not be the smartest decisions you’ve made, you learn from them.

All of the obstacles you over come are the best thing about becoming who you want to be. While being a teenager, most of our parents try to make decisions for us, but they are little decisions and they are doing what’s best for us by making us do these things, but they can’t tell you that you can’t be a doctor, teacher, scientists, etc. It’s all up to you to prove that you can do it and be who you want to be.

The cartoon sounds like a conversation that two teenagers would have about their thoughts on destiny. It’s pretty normal to think that you could do anything you want with your life, after all it is your life and you do have total control over it, unless you make stupid choices.

  13. I believe that destiny is found within a person. The definition in the dictionary states that destiny means something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune.

My dream is to become a NFL football player, so I really need to work extra hard on football and I need to improve my skills. I would love to play in the NFL. I need to work out all year to improve at all facets of drills, speed, agility, stamina and skills in football.

I believe destiny is recognized in your life -- you need to find it. You may also achieve it with more time, effort and love for what you want out of life. If you want to achieve and be recognized in you life you need to try until you succeed. No matter how big or small your goal is keep trying until you see results in your life. You should go after anything and everything you may want to achieve and find success. I think your beliefs help you to create your own destiny. You determine if that is the right goals for you.

  14. Destiny is events that is going to happen or has already happened to a person. I believe that everyone’s destiny is altered by their action. I also believe that we have the power to shape our own destiny to a certain extent, but there are things that happen in our live that we just can’t do anything about. I interpret destiny as a pathway that can change direction based upon our choices and events in our lives. Destiny applies to my life a lot; I say this because I have a choice on how I want my destiny to turn out. “I have no regrets in my life. I think that everything happens to you for a reason. The hard times that you go through build character, making you a much stronger person.” by Rita Mero. This quote is a pretty good concept of the word destiny. It pretty much means the things that have already happened to you helped you become who you are and will help you brace the obstacles to come. I think destiny affects everyone’s life even if they don’t believe in it because they are making choices now subconsciously that will definitely alter the things that happen in the future.

  15. My belief is that I control my own destiny. Yes, parents will guide you to help you along and get started with your life. They have taught us wrong from right, eventually we grow up and feel like not doing what they would like us to do. We chose how we want to do things rather they are the right decision or not. We can decide to do the right thing or the wrong, either way we chose how to use our destiny.

Having your own destiny makes you who you are. If you live by someone else’s beliefs, that doesn’t really make you the person YOU would want to be. People and other peers can help with your destiny, rather it’s a good choice or a bad decision. Your destiny should be chosen by you.

To have a successful destiny, do what you want to do. I know I would push myself and stride for something if I know the results in the long end will be worth it. You are responsible for you behavior and doings. I do not think the stars can decide your destiny, they only shine at night. They are out in space were nothing affects us in reality.

  16. Destiny can be described as many different things. Too me, destiny means to chase your dreams and never give up on what you truly want in the future. Destiny is like a long term goal because it is usually often thought about when we are young, what we want when we are older, and the steps we will have to partake in it too reach our destiny.
My destiny is to become a successful football player, whether it is in high school, college, or hopefully even the NFL. Also too have enough money to support my self and my family. What is the real definition for destiny though? Destiny is something that is going to happen to a person in a certain point of his or her lifetime; fortune. So in my own words it’s what I can take from the definition and describe it with my own feelings. I do not think that some magical thing or fortune will happen to me, I need to work hard for the things in life and not get helped out all of the time. My parents do help me out a lot, but sometimes I tell them not to because I have to learn how to do them someday by myself and they will not always be here. So to me…. This is destiny!

  17. Destiny; something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune. That is the dictionary definition of “destiny”. In my opinion, destiny is something that will happen to you in the future, something that you’re destined to achieve.

Everyone has a chance to achieve what they want in life. Some may have it much easier than others but if it’s something you really want in life, you must do your best to make whatever you want to happen, happen.

For example, in my sophomore year, I took a class with Mr. Jansen. We watched a movie called Homeless To Harvard. This movie was about a Homeless girl who had become a star student and earned a scholarship to Harvard University. This girl had one of the saddest, roughest lives I have ever seen, and if she became that successful, it definitely means that if you want something bad enough, you will do anything in your power to make it happen.

I think that everyone has their own destiny. But they must make whatever it is, come true. You control your own destiny. If you choose to do something to mess your life up, you put that upon yourself. Everyone will have obstacles that get in their way of wanting to do something successful, but if you want it bad enough, you will get through those obstacles and achieve your goal.

  18. Destiny is something that is a very hard to understand. I think that destiny can be controlled by you and nature. My future will be changed by what I do but what will happen in my future I think will be controlled.

I think destiny is controlled by like what you do when you do something and its good you know what your doing but and then you do something bad you don’t really know what you are doing you are like what am I doing right know. Destiny is something that is controlled by how you act and what you do with your life like if your lazy you might not have the best future but if you go out and do thing help your parents do your homework you will have a good future destiny is more how you act then what you destine to be.

Destiny is a very confusing thing in life some people go out and try to find there destiny some people really don’t care but when you really good at something people say your destine to be that your really good at that. Destiny is a very confusing thing in life but you have to live with it.

  19. Destiny- something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune. I believe my destiny is decided by myself and everyone else’s destiny is also decided by them. Many people believe that there destiny is made by something or someone else but you can’t make anything happen that you don’t want to happen. If something happens in your life it is not necessarily your fault and it is not necessarily your destiny, but you will know when something is your destiny because you will just feel the need to accomplish this one thing in order to feel good about yourself. A part of your destiny is by having a future plan in life like what you want to do when you get out of high school. Everyone should have a future plan and destiny. If they can’t accomplish their goals they just need to work harder because a destiny is a demand not a want. My main destiny is to go to college and become a DEP officer. 21. Destiny is the event that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future. I believe you make your own destiny. Everyone in the world had a different destiny. How can the stars control your destiny their balls of gas million and billions miles away? Your future/ destiny all depends on you. You control your destiny.

Sometimes destiny’s can be bad sometimes they are good. If I want to become a preschool teacher I need to push myself and had a have help from my friends and family. With the help from them we can all stir me in the right direction. Every one of my friends and my family influences me to make the right decision I really need practice, practice, practice. I hope that with all of my decisions I have one awesome destiny!

The picture is saying you don't need the stars you don't need you parents (only a little). You make your destiny. I’ll make my destiny with the love of my family and friends. Also I’ll make it by being with good influences and i can be a good influence with future preschool teachers.

The inevitable or necessary fate to which a particular person or thing is destined; one's lot.

Do I believe destiny is controlled by the stars? No that’s ridiculous, to think that big balls of burning gas are going to tell me what I need to do with my life is just a joke. You make your own destiny no matter what happens in life you have an opportunity to help yourself out of any hole you put yourself in if you chose to. Your destiny can be anything you want it to be if you work at it and make it your own destinies are like teeth if you don’t clean them and take care of them they will get dirty and fall out with makes it hard to eat steak and you’ll have to eat spaghetti and mash potato’s forever. And it doesn’t matter how you start if you are determined on making you life a good one. Having a good life is important because if you have a good life you are more happy and being happy leads to getting to know the right people and knowing the right people leads to having a better job then most having a better job gives you more money having more money let you do more fun things fun things leads to females ,females lead to babies babies leads to happiness and happiness is good

  23. Destiny is considered to be the inevitable or necessary fate to a person. There are many questions and theories on how to find or reach your destiny. Different people have different opinions and thoughts on the matter. I however believe that destiny is in our own hands, not written in the stars or anything like that.

I am my own person and 90 percent of the time I make my own decisions towards my life. Such as; whether to play sports or not, get good grades or slack, to push myself to be all that I can be in my life, and be successful. Yes, in life we will be influenced by many people like family, friends, teachers, but in the end it’s all about you. We decide what paths to choose to go down. The consequences (good or bad) that we’ll deal with come from the choices that we make.

Your destiny can be altered by many life obstacles, but overall life is what you make of it. Always has and always will be. Life is determined by choice, not chance. Opportunities will arise but you choose to take them or not. Your future is in your own hands.

  24. Density is the power to control what will happen in the future.

I think that density is controlled you. Your density is what you want it to be. I don’t think the stars have anything to do with what you want I think parents don’t either I mean they can help push you in the right direction but not what you choose to do. And I think you control your density by your actions if you do something to wrong your not sure to have a bright future ahead.

To be successful you need to be around good things like people and other thing. I mean I want to succeeded in graduating and go to the air force and the only way I can do that is be focused on school and myself and I’m happy I have my parents and friends to help me do that. 25. Destiny is something that happens for a reason. You don’t know when it happens. Destiny is unexplained. I believe that you make your own destiny. You choose what you do. I also think karma has a little bit to do with destiny. What you do and act has a reaction of who you are gonna be in the future.

Your parents have some what to do with your destiny. They brought you into the world for some purpose or reason. I like to think that you can challenge your destiny. If you don’t like the way you life is going then you have the power to change it. You also have to be careful on how you change it. It could have a positive or negative. I would rather have the positive effect. Your destiny will control your future. It will also control how things happen and what order things happen. Destiny really can’t be explained. It’s something you think it is. It happens to everyone and everything.

  30. Shania, Your view on destiny is a very good way too look at it. You chose to have your destiny not happen out of a miracle, it is what happens in your future. I totally agree with that. Your parents have nothing to do with destiny. Well done !

You did a fantastic job on this weeks blog. It was well organized! You seemed to interpret a pretty good message from the cartoon and you mentioned it in your blog as well, I didn't see many others do that. I agree with your opinion on destiny one-hundred percent! Keep up the good work!
